Fresh Grooming for Friday!

Happy Friday Nordic fans. Here's some good news to usher in your weekend. The groomers are out this morning getting some fresh skate grooming laid down on about 6km of terrain. They may also take some passes at Valley depending on the conditions. Classic tracks will also be set on about 5km today as well.

The Nordic trails have bounced back pretty well over the past week. While we would obviously LOVE a massive snowfall, you'll be able to get in some great skiing and exploring this weekend. Come on out and enjoy it!

Getting Better

With a couple more inches of fresh snow this morning the Nordic terrain is getting back into shape. Today we have about 5km groomed for skate and classic skiing. The surface on the ungroomed terrain has about 4 inches of snow on top of a firm base. Ungroomed terrain is open for skiing and snowshoeing but the skiing is recommended for intermediate to advanced skiers only.

Small re-opening!

After a few days of the Nordic terrain being closed, we are happy to say we now have 2 of our Nordic trails open for skiing. We have both Broadway and Picnic Loop open for skate. Every day things are looking better, and we're obviously hoping the snow that is in the forecast decides to give us more than expected!

We will continue to open trails just as soon as conditions permit. The rest of our backcountry and groomed terrain remains closed to skiers at this time.

Thaw/Freeze

After several days of January playing tricks with our hearts, it looks that we will be back to temps that are more in line with winter than mud season. It got colder overnight and it’s expected to stay that way this week with most of our extended forecasts predicting that we will not see highs above 30 for five days or more. Flurries are in the forecast as well.
For the next few days, we will close our backcountry and groomed terrain to skiers. The thaw significantly reduced our base depth, and created several spots where trails are down to dirt. What snow does remain on our Nordic trails is frozen and very slick. While the colder temps are a great thing, we are in need of more snow to build our base depth back and soften the surfaces. This makes things pretty unskiable for now, however, we will keep our groomed terrain open for snowshoeing. And, for non-pass holders, you’ll be able to explore on snowshoes for only $5! Check back for updates as conditions improve and terrain re-opens.

Friday Update!

The snow started up around 12:30 this afternoon and so far we've picked up a fresh inch. The accumulation from today’s snow showers combined with our seven day total of nearly 2 feet sets us up for another outstanding weekend of Nordic skiing. We will be grooming 18km of trails for skate skiing tonight for you to enjoy in the morning.

The backcountry is also looking great with all this snow, so get yourself set for an adventure. The folks in the Nordic Center are ready to get you geared up, and have lots of insight as to just where the skiing is picture perfect.

Enjoy your weekend!
